Hyundai Motor Group to explore smart city projects in Kazakhstan

Hyundai Motor Group has signed an agreement to explore business opportunities within the Alatau City project in Kazakhstan. The agreement was reached during the 1st Korea-Central Asia Business Summit with Kazakhstani private investment firm Caspian Group and financial/investment firm United Group Alatau.

Alatau City is a massive new city development project covering 880 square kilometers north of Almaty. Designated as a special economic zone by presidential decree, the project is scheduled to be developed in stages through 2050. The development is divided into four functional zones: Gate, Golden, Growing, and Green.

Through this partnership, Hyundai Motor Group aims to establish a hub for physical AI-based future city projects in Central Asia. The company will investigate business possibilities in smart city technologies, mobility, energy, and digital sectors. Initial focus will be placed on the ‘Gate’ area, which serves as a key link between Alatau City and Almaty. The group plans to conduct feasibility studies to define the specific scope of participation and business models.
