Hyundai Motor Group to supply hydrogen buses and charging infrastructure to Oman

Hyundai Motor Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Omani Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) and OOMCO to advance eco-friendly mobility in Oman. This partnership aims to support the ‘Oman Vision 2040’ initiative and the nation's transition toward carbon neutrality.

A primary component of the agreement is the introduction of Oman's first hydrogen-powered city buses. The state-owned transport company, Mwasalat, plans to launch a pilot service using Hyundai’s Elec City hydrogen electric buses on a dedicated ‘Green Route’ in Muscat.

Additionally, the collaboration includes the establishment of ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. Through EVO, a subsidiary of OOMCO, 240kW ultra-fast chargers manufactured by Hyundai Kefico will be operated at an OOMCO service station in the Halban area. The performance and demand for these chargers will be evaluated over a six-month period to inform future infrastructure expansion.
