Hyundai Motor Group has unveiled a dual-track strategy for autonomous driving, combining external partnerships with internal technology development. The group plans to utilize Nvidia’s Drive Hyperion 10 platform to accelerate market entry, targeting the mass production of Level 2+ and Level 2++ features starting in the first half of 2028.

Simultaneously, Hyundai is developing its proprietary End-to-End (E2E) AI system, Atria AI. To ensure high quality and safety, the company has strategically delayed the mass production of Atria AI-powered Level 2++ vehicles until the second half of 2029. This delay allows the company to focus resources on achieving its long-term technical goals rather than rushing an intermediate product to market.

The strategy is supported by a ‘Data Flywheel’ system, which leverages Hyundai’s global sales of 7 million vehicles annually to collect, train, and refine AI models through continuous real-world data loops. To facilitate this, the group will standardize sensor configurations—including 10 cameras, one front radar, and 12 ultrasonic sensors—across its brands, including Hyundai, Kia, 42dot, and Motional, to ensure consistent data collection and software longevity.
