Hyundai Motor India to launch new midsize SUV during Diwali season

Hyundai Motor India confirmed that it will introduce a new midsize SUV, codenamed Bc4i, in time for the Diwali festive period. The model is expected to be based on the Europe‑spec Hyundai Bayon and will sit between the Venue and Creta in the company’s lineup. Two power‑train options are planned – a 1.5‑litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a CNG unit, both offered with manual or CVT gearboxes. Features will include a large touchscreen infotainment system, Hyundai BlueLink connectivity, wireless smartphone charging, rear‑view camera, front and rear parking sensors, leatherette upholstery, multiple airbags and tyre‑pressure monitoring.

Alongside the SUV, Hyundai announced a dedicated electric vehicle for the Venue‑size segment later this financial year and a third‑shift start at its Pune plant from October 2026, raising annual capacity to 170,000 units. The company is also expanding its Chennai plant capacity. These moves follow a production loss earlier in the year due to a supplier fire, which the firm says it has largely recovered from.
