Hyundai Motor Company is on the verge of reaching a major milestone in India, with cumulative vehicle sales expected to surpass 10 million by the end of this year. According to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the automaker had recorded 9,884,960 cumulative sales through the third quarter.

This growth has been largely driven by a strategic shift toward Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs). In the third quarter, SUVs accounted for 67% of the 471,724 vehicles sold. Popular models such as the Creta, Venue, Alcazar, and Exter have been central to this success. Hyundai aims to increase the SUV share of its Indian sales to 80% by 2030.

To support this expansion, Hyundai is strengthening its manufacturing footprint. The company has established a combined annual production capacity of 1 million units through its Chennai and Pune plants. Looking toward 2030, Hyundai plans to expand this capacity to over 1.1 million units, achieve a 90% localization rate for parts, and increase its export share from India to 30%, positioning the country as a global export hub.
