Hyundai unveils fifth-generation Tucson SUV

Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the fifth-generation Tucson, a complete redesign of its popular compact SUV. The new model features an expanded footprint, with increased length, width, and wheelbase to enhance interior space. Notable improvements include a 29mm increase in second-row headroom and a wider rear door opening angle of 83 degrees for improved accessibility.

The vehicle will be offered with two primary powertrains: a 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine producing 193 horsepower paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and a 1.6-liter turbo hybrid system delivering 245 horsepower and a combined fuel efficiency of 17.4 km/ℓ. The hybrid model includes specialized features such as ‘Stay Mode’ for climate control while stationary and ‘E-Traction’ technology to manage vehicle movement via the electric motor.

Technologically, the Tucson introduces ‘Pleos Connect,’ the first infotainment system for Hyundai SUVs, which includes ‘Gleo AI,’ a generative AI agent capable of natural conversation and vehicle control. A rugged ‘XRT’ trim is also available, designed for outdoor enthusiasts with specialized bumpers, skid plates, and black cladding. Safety enhancements include a first-of-its-kind dual power supply for door unlocking in the event of a collision.
