Hyundai Motor wins ESG Design Impact Award for ocean forest campaign

Hyundai Motor Company has received the ‘ESG Design Impact Award’ at the Seoul Design Award 2026 for its ‘Nameless Forest’ campaign. The award recognizes the company’s efforts to create social and environmental value through design.

The campaign focuses on ocean forest conservation, a critical ecosystem for carbon absorption and marine biodiversity. Through partnerships with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Korea Fisheries Resources Agency, Hyundai Motor established 3.96 square kilometers of ocean forests in Ulsan, South Korea, in 2024.

As part of the project, specific names were assigned to ocean forests to increase public engagement and visibility on digital maps. In South Korea, the ‘Ullim Ocean Forest’ in Ulsan and the ‘Tonggumi Natural Ocean Forest’ in Ulleungdo were named. Internationally, the project collaborated with local groups to name the ‘Auken Aiken’ forest in Argentina and the ‘Yanggaa’ forest in Australia. These locations are now listed on Google Maps and Kakao Maps to promote ongoing marine ecosystem protection.
