Hyundai reveals powertrain details for new Tucson SUV

Hyundai has revealed details regarding the upcoming generation of the Tucson SUV. The new model will feature a variety of powertrain options, including a 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine and a 1.6-liter hybrid system.

The hybrid version will utilize the second-generation TMED-II FF full hybrid system, combining a 1.6-liter turbo engine with an electric motor. This system is expected to deliver a combined output of 242 horsepower and 38.8 kgm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid model is slated for a market launch in South Korea in the fourth quarter of this year, with a global rollout expected by 2027.

In addition to the hybrid, a 1.6-liter turbo gasoline version will be available. The updated Tucson also features increased dimensions, with a longer body and wider stance to provide more interior space. A rugged XRT off-road variant is also expected to be part of the lineup.
