Hyundai Rotem showcases aerospace propulsion technologies at AEROTEC
Hyundai Rotem is showcasing its aerospace propulsion technologies at the 2nd International Aerospace Technology Fair (AEROTEC) held in Changwon, South Korea. The company is presenting several key propulsion systems, including methane engines, ducted ramjet engines, and hypersonic engines.
Hyundai Rotem is currently developing a methane engine, which is considered a core technology for future space transport due to its high fuel efficiency and low soot production. The company previously succeeded in methane engine combustion tests in 2006 and recently secured a project for reusable launch vehicle methane engine technology development. Additionally, the company is showcasing ducted ramjet engines for long-range air-to-air missiles and hypersonic engines capable of transitioning between ramjet and scramjet modes.
To support its aerospace business, Hyundai Rotem presented an infrastructure vision through a diorama, illustrating liquid rocket engine test sites in Seosan and a planned aerospace production base in Muju. During the event, Hyundai Rotem also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ansys Korea to cooperate on simulation-based design and analysis technologies for aerospace development.
