Hyundai Rotem to accelerate K2PL tank production in Poland
Hyundai Rotem is expanding its cooperation with Polish partners regarding the K2 tank program. Representatives from the South Korean conglomerate met with nine Polish companies in Warsaw to discuss increasing the role of local enterprises in production, equipment integration, and long-term operational support.
Production of the K2PL variant in Poland is scheduled to begin in April 2028, which is four months earlier than previously planned. The technology transfer will extend beyond assembly to include the manufacturing of major components and subassemblies, such as the chassis structure, turret, suspension system, automatic loader, and gun barrel.
The first K2PL tanks produced in Polish facilities are expected to be ready in 2029. Local companies, including Bumar-Łabędy, PCO, and Wojskowe Zakłady Elektroniczne, are set to play significant roles in the manufacturing and systems integration process.
