Hyundai Tucson sets record orders on first day of sales in South Korea
The fifth-generation Hyundai Tucson has achieved record-breaking sales in its home market, securing 15,045 orders on its first day of availability on October 22. This figure significantly exceeds the 10,842 orders recorded during the launch of the fourth-generation model in September 2020.
Customer preference shows a strong leaning toward high-end features, with the top-tier Inspiration trim accounting for 44% of total orders, up from 29% in the previous generation. This trim includes a 17-inch screen with Pleos Connect and Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2) technology. The standard H-Pick version followed with 33% of orders, while the mid-range Exclusive trim captured 22%. The outdoor-oriented XRT version accounted for 1% of the initial demand.
Analysts note that the high demand for premium trims suggests South Korean C-SUV buyers are increasingly willing to pay for advanced safety technology, connectivity, and over-the-air (OTA) software updates.
