Hyundai unveils fifth-generation Tucson SUV

Hyundai has unveiled the fifth generation of its Tucson SUV, featuring the new ‘Art of Steel’ design language. The updated model is larger than its predecessor, growing 60mm in length, 40mm in width, and 30mm in wheelbase to provide increased interior space and improved passenger headroom.

Technological advancements include the Pleos Connect infotainment system, which offers up to a 17-inch central display and AI-driven assistance. New safety and convenience features include ‘Memory Reverse Assist’ for navigating tight parking spots, ‘Pedal Misoperation Safety Assist’ to prevent accidental acceleration, and a backup power source to ensure doors can be opened even if the main battery fails during a collision.

Powertrain options include a 1.6-liter turbo petrol engine and a 1.6-liter turbo hybrid system delivering a combined 180 kW (245 hp) and 380 Nm of torque. The hybrid model utilizes a dual-motor setup and features a ‘Stay Mode’ to power climate and multimedia systems while stationary. A rugged XRT trim, designed for an outdoor lifestyle with enhanced protective cladding and a unique grille, is also being introduced. The vehicle is scheduled for sale in South Korea in October, with international rollouts to follow.
