Hyundai unveils fourth‑generation i20 in Brazil with SUV‑inspired design and advanced tech

Hyundai has launched the fourth‑generation i20 in Brazil, marking the model’s world debut. Built on the new K3 platform, the hatchback is offered in six variants – Comfort, Limited MT, Limited AT, X Line, Platinum and Ultimate – and adopts a crossover‑inspired styling with a sharper hexagonal grille, LED light bar and pronounced wheel arches. The Brazilian version is 135 mm longer, 5 mm wider and 55 mm taller than the outgoing model, with a boot capacity of 346 L (expandable to 1,152 L).

Inside, the i20 features a dual‑screen cockpit (12.3‑inch instrument cluster and touchscreen), wireless smartphone connectivity, OTA updates via Hyundai BlueLink, and a suite of SmartSense ADAS functions such as blind‑spot collision avoidance, forward‑collision avoidance, lane‑keeping and intelligent speed‑limit assist. The car is powered by two 1.0‑L three‑cylinder engines – a naturally aspirated unit producing 59 kW (115 bhp) and a turbocharged version delivering 85 kW (115 bhp) – both paired with a six‑speed automatic transmission.

While Hyundai has not confirmed a launch date for India, the i20 is expected to reach the market there around 2027, potentially retaining existing 1.2‑L and 1.0‑L turbo petrol engines and leaving open the possibility of a hybrid variant on the K3 platform.
