Hyundai unveils Neira electric MPV for Indonesia, mirrors Kia Carens EV

Hyundai Motor Company revealed the Neira prototype at the 2026 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). The vehicle is presented as a seven‑seat electric SUV/MPV targeting Indonesian families and is slated for market launch before the end of 2026.

Production will take place locally at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI). While Hyundai has not released technical details such as battery capacity, range or power output, the Neira appears to share its basic platform and several design elements with the Kia Carens Clavis EV sold in India. Distinct Hyundai styling includes a wide LED light strip across the front fascia, vertically arranged lighting units, a closed‑off grille, dual‑tone alloy wheels and a horizontal LED tail‑lamp bar.

Kenny Lee, President Director of Hyundai Motors Indonesia, described the Neira as a spacious seven‑passenger electric SUV that will incorporate Hyundai’s latest EV technology. The prototype is still being refined before the final production model is introduced to the Indonesian market.
