Hyundai launches redesigned i20 crossover ahead of 2027 release

Hyundai has unveiled the next‑generation i20, shifting the model toward a crossover silhouette. The prototype, spotted in Scandinavian winter tests, features sharper, more angular styling, Y‑shaped horizontal LED daytime running lights, new wheel designs and black plastic cladding around the body. A higher ride height is shown for the South‑American version, while other markets may see different body options.

Inside, the cabin merges the instrument cluster and infotainment screen into a wide digital display, with higher‑grade materials, improved sound insulation and updated driver‑assist systems. Powertrain choices will include turbocharged 1.0‑litre three‑cylinder units and a 48‑volt mild‑hybrid system, alongside existing 1.0‑litre naturally aspirated and 1.0 T‑GDi engines for selected regions.

Hyundai plans to officially present the i20 in the second half of 2026, with sales slated to begin in the 2027 model year.
