Hyundai Veloster faces engine specification controversy in Brazil

The launch of the Hyundai Veloster in the Brazilian market during the second half of 2011 initially generated significant interest due to its futuristic design and sporty appearance. However, the model faced controversy regarding its engine specifications.

While marketing materials from Caoa, the importer at the time, suggested the vehicle was equipped with a 1.6L engine producing 140 hp (the GDI version sold in other international markets), the units imported to Brazil featured an indirect injection engine. This version produced 128 hp and approximately 16 kgfm of torque. The difference in performance, specifically regarding torque delivery at higher RPMs, led to consumer dissatisfaction and complaints regarding the discrepancy between advertised and actual performance.
