I-15 hit-and-run near Jean leaves five injured

A multi-vehicle hit-and-run crash near Jean, Nevada, left five people injured and caused a significant disruption on southbound I-15. The incident began around 12:16 a.m. near mile marker 7, north of the California border, involving an initial three-car collision.

Shortly after, an unidentified vehicle struck a Clark County Fire Department ambulance, a fire truck, and a parked Chevrolet Malibu. The driver of the striking vehicle fled the scene on foot into the desert. Despite air and ground searches conducted by the Nevada Highway Patrol, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and the California Highway Patrol, the suspect remains at large.

Five individuals were injured in the secondary collision; one was airlifted to a hospital due to the severity of their injuries, while four others were transported by ground ambulance. No Clark County fire personnel were injured. The crash also resulted in a large diesel spill from a damaged fire truck, necessitating lane closures for cleanup. Southbound traffic was diverted at the Jean exit until lanes began reopening later that morning.
