I-405 southbound closures scheduled for Renton and Kirkland

Southbound I-405 will undergo closures from 11:30 p.m. Friday night through 4 a.m. Monday morning between Exit 10 and Exit 6. A signed detour will be implemented from September 25 to September 28, directing drivers from Coal Creek Parkway Southeast to SR-900/NE Sunset Boulevard to rejoin the highway.

Additionally, northbound and southbound I-405 on-ramps and off-ramps at Northeast 132nd St in Kirkland will close from 10 p.m. on September 25 to 5 a.m. on September 28.

These closures are part of the I-405 Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project, managed by WSDOT. The work includes excavating drainage crossings and replacing pavement to improve trip reliability and support the new I-405 Bus Rapid Transit line. Drivers should also expect road work on the detour route due to the King County Coal Creek Sewer Upgrade Project.
