I. League to lift ban on away supporters next season
The Indonesian football league operator, I. League, has announced that the ban on away supporters will be lifted starting next season. This policy had been in place for approximately four years following the Kanjuruhan Tragedy on October 1, 2022.
FIFA has granted approval for the return of visiting fans, provided that specific security conditions and restrictions are met. I. League officials stated that clubs have been briefed on the necessary barriers and prohibitions to ensure the continuity of this policy without compromising safety.
However, the return of away fans will not apply to all matches automatically. High-rivalry fixtures, such as Persebaya Surabaya versus Arema FC and Persija Jakarta against Persib Bandung, may still be played without visiting supporters. The final decision for these specific matches may also depend on police indicators. To support the new policy, the league has developed an integrated ticket purchasing system via the Sobat Liga application.
