I-O DATA to host e-sports and trash collection event in Ishikawa

The e-sports GOMI in Ishikawa event is scheduled to take place on October 24, 2026, at the I-O DATA Second Building in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture. Organized by I-O DATA and co-hosted by The Nippon Foundation SpoGOMI Federation, the event combines competitive e-sports with environmental cleanup activities.

Participants form teams of three to compete in a points-based competition, collecting trash within a designated area. The competition is split into two halves, with a gaming tournament held during the halftime break. Success in the gaming portion, such as playing ‘Puyo Puyo eSports’, can provide teams with advantageous items, such as additional tongs, for the second half of the cleanup.

The initiative aims to raise awareness about marine debris and promote sustainable development goals (SDGs) by engaging younger generations and gaming communities in environmental conservation efforts.
