IAA Transportation 2026: Michelin and Zerova unveil heavy vehicle innovations

At the IAA Transportation 2026 exhibition, Michelin and Zerova introduced new technologies aimed at advancing the heavy vehicle industry through automation and electrification.

Michelin unveiled NAZCA, an automated machine designed to modernize the tire retreading process for heavy vehicles. Utilizing high-density laser scanners and advanced algorithms, the system analyzes tire geometry to adjust cutting depth in real time. Michelin reports that the technology can increase workshop retreading capacity by 30% to 50% while reducing technician intervention time to less than three minutes per operation.

Zerova presented its new MCS (Megawatt Charging System) dispenser, a solution for the electrification of heavy-duty trucks and buses. The system can deliver up to 1.44 MW of power and 1,500 amps using liquid-cooled cables. Designed to align with mandatory driver rest periods, the technology supports long-distance electric transport. The hardware is compatible with models from manufacturers such as Mercedes.
