IAG shifts SAP migration strategy to prioritize data and AI readiness
IAG has adjusted its migration from SAP ECC to S/4HANA to focus on refining finance processes and cleaning data as a prerequisite for future artificial intelligence applications. The insurer’s approach shifted from a purely compliance-driven migration—aimed at meeting IFRS 17 accounting standards and addressing the end-of-life for ECC—to a future-oriented redesign.
Using SAP Signavio, the company mapped more than 300 finance function processes. IAG also cleared 40 percent of its company codes, which reduced data migration requirements and facilitated faster closing benefits. Prashant Shetty, executive manager of digital finance, stated that establishing clean data and robust process foundations is essential before AI can deliver meaningful value to the finance function.
