Iago Aspas confirms retirement from Celta de Vigo

Celta de Vigo captain Iago Aspas has confirmed his upcoming retirement from professional football. Speaking at the II National Journalism and Sport Conference held at Balaídos stadium, Aspas stated that his decision is final and that even a Champions League qualification would not change his mind.

Aspas expressed his intention to approach his final months with normalcy and competitiveness, noting that he does not want to treat the period as a countdown. He emphasized his desire to continue training with the same dedication as his younger teammates despite being 39 years old.

During the event, which included club figures Claudio Giráldez, Fredi Álvarez, and Pablo Meixús, the group discussed the current positive trajectory of Celta de Vigo. The speakers highlighted the club's successful focus on youth talent from the A Madroa academy and the overall growth of the institution over the last several years.
