Iago Aspas honored at Pontevedra Sports Gala in Vigo

RC Celta captain Iago Aspas was recognized as a premier sporting figure during the annual Gala do Deporte organized by the Diputación de Pontevedra. The event, held at the IFEVI fairgrounds in Vigo, brought together over 700 people from the regional sporting community.

During the ceremony, the President of the Diputación, Luis López, and Vice President Luisa Sánchez presented Aspas with a handcrafted work to honor his football career and his deep connection to the local sports culture. López described the player as a major reference point for the province, while Sánchez highlighted his humility and his tendency to credit his teammates and support network for his successes.

The gala, held under the motto ‘Son porque somos’, aimed to celebrate the collective effort of athletes, clubs, families, and institutions that sustain the province’s sporting identity.
