Balaídos Tribuna stand to be renamed after Iago Aspas

Vigo Mayor Abel Caballero has announced that the Tribuna stand at Balaídos stadium will be renamed ‘Tribuna Iago Aspas’ to honor the Celta de Vigo captain. The decision follows a proposal from the Deputación de Pontevedra, which originally suggested naming the ‘Gol’ stand after the player. Caballero justified the choice of the Tribuna section by noting it is already operational, will become the stadium's largest capacity area following future expansions for the 2030 World Cup, and is located near a planned sculpture of the footballer.

The Mayor intends to formalize the change via decree once he receives approval from both Iago Aspas and Celta de Vigo. This tribute coincides with Aspas's final professional season.

Separately, Aspas has been participating in a marketing campaign for the DOP Mexillón de Galicia. Regarding his physical condition, the player is currently recovering from a muscle injury and expects to return to competition following the international break.
