Iago Borduchi joins São Paulo on loan amid club's transfer ban

Left‑back Iago Borduchi, 29, has completed a loan move to São Paulo FC until the end of 2026 after reversing an earlier decision to join Internacional. The loan was finalized with São Paulo covering his salary and the player arriving in the capital to begin medicals and registration.

São Paulo’s ability to register Borduchi is blocked by a FIFA transfer ban stemming from an unpaid €1 million debt to Italy’s Lazio over the earlier signing of midfielder Marcos Antônio. The ban also affects defender Domingos Duarte. The club is seeking funds to settle the debt so the new signings can be entered in the BID. Borduchi’s loan includes no purchase option; he will return to Bahia in 2027 unless a new agreement is reached. He previously logged 54 matches for Bahia, scoring three goals and providing four assists, and spent several seasons with German side Augsburg after developing at Internacional.
