Iago Machado draws European interest after Corinthians debut

Seventeen-year-old defender Iago Machado has made a notable professional debut for Corinthians, starting in a recent match against Flamengo. Following his performance, the young player has drawn significant attention from major European clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester, Bayern Munich, and Ajax.

To protect the player's value, Corinthians established a release clause in a contract amendment signed in October 2025. The clause is set at R$ 66 million for Brazilian clubs and €100 million for international teams. Machado's current contract with the club runs until April 2028.

Corinthians manager Fernando Diniz praised the defender's personality and potential, stating he has a bright future. Machado's agent noted that while European interest is high, the current focus remains on his development and adaptation to professional football under Diniz's guidance.
