Iași County Council seat vacancy follows integrity ruling

Dumitru Frumoasa is expected to take a seat on the Iași County Council following the removal of Cristian Stanciu. The vacancy arises due to new integrity regulations after the National Integrity Agency (ANI) issued a definitive finding regarding Stanciu’s incompatibility. Stanciu, a vice-president of the PSD Iași, held simultaneous positions as a member of the Board of Directors at ‘Sf. Maria’ Hospital and a leadership role within the social-democratic party.

While PSD deputy Maricel Popa suggests Frumoasa has been aware of the upcoming mandate for approximately a month, Frumoasa stated he has received no official notification and remains uninformed about the transition. Stanciu has announced his intention to challenge the prefect's order to terminate his mandate in court.

Frumoasa, who currently serves as a management auditor at Poșta Română and a local councilor in Bălțați, has indicated that if he assumes the county council position, he will resign from his local council role.
