Iași developers relocate to Bucharest for legal disputes
Real estate developers in Iași are relocating their headquarters to Bucharest to pursue legal action against the Iași City Hall. Paul Avătăji has moved his business to the capital to seek the partial annulment of the 1999 General Urban Plan (PUG) through Bucharest magistrates, following a lost appeal regarding a previous case.
Avătăji stated he considered it opportune to have the legal situation analyzed from a different jurisprudential perspective. This follows a similar move by developer Cristin Zămoșteanu, who relocated several major companies to Bucharest to litigate urbanism certificate disputes.
One such case involves Imperia Divizia Construcții SRL, which is suing the Iași Local Council and the Municipality. The company is contesting the classification of a 10,767 square meter plot near Nicolae Iorga Boulevard as a public green zone (P1a), arguing the land has never functioned as a public utility or managed green space.
