Iași to establish social sports school with Real Madrid Foundation

The municipality of Iași, Romania, has approved the creation of a social sports school designed for children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 from disadvantaged families. The project is a partnership between the Iași City Hall, the Real Madrid Foundation, the Iași Social Assistance Directorate (DAS), and the Save the Children Iași Association.

The initiative will operate at the Municipal Center for Education and Sport Iași (CMESIS) and is part of the Real Madrid Foundation’s Social Sports Schools program. The primary objectives are to promote education through sports, prevent school dropout, and support social integration.

Under the cooperation agreement, the Iași City Hall will cover personnel costs for DAS employees, facility maintenance, and sports equipment for 60 children in 2026. The Save the Children Iași Association will contribute approximately 700,000 lei from its own budget for staff salaries. The Real Madrid Foundation will provide training, counseling, and guidance to the involved personnel to ensure the program's effective organization and operation.
