Ian Edwards to resign as CEO of Racing and Wagering Western Australia

Ian Edwards has announced his resignation as Chief Executive of Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA), effective November 13. Edwards, who previously served as the organization’s CFO from 2017 to 2020, stated he is “incredibly proud” of the achievements during his six-year tenure as CEO.

RWWA Chair Karen Farley praised Edwards for his role in developing new broadcast partnerships and the launch of Racing WA TV, noting he helped build a more strategically focused organization. Edwards is expected to move to another organization following his departure.

Shadow Minister for Racing and Gaming Lachlan Hunter has called on the Cook Labor Government to provide stability and certainty for the racing industry. Hunter noted that the leadership change occurs while the government’s Financial Sustainability and Governance Review is still underway, expressing concern that the vacancy could lead to further uncertainty for clubs, trainers, and regional racing communities.
