Ian Gleizer blends Christian music with Northeastern Brazilian rhythms

Ian Gleizer, an artist from the Bahia sertão, is gaining significant traction by blending Christian music classics with traditional Northeastern Brazilian rhythms such as forró, xote, baião, and arrasta-pé.

Drawing on his family heritage of musicians and leaders in the Assembly of God church, Gleizer uses the accordion (sanfona) to reinterpret hymns from the Harpa Cristã and contemporary gospel songs. His project, ‘Forrozão Tá na Benção’, has achieved millions of views and streams across social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
