Irish welterweight contender Ian Machado Garry will face reigning champion Islam Makhachev in the main event of UFC 330 on August 15 in Philadelphia. Speaking at a press conference in Dublin after signing with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Talent Agency, Garry said he does not intend to seek an early finish. He explained, “My ideal scenario? I want a fourth‑round finish. I don’t want any early knockout because then there are ifs, buts, and maybes.” Garry plans to dominate the first three rounds and look for the decisive finish in the fourth, describing how he will “open the door” and “walk him into my traps.” He also noted that a win would make him the most victorious Irish fighter in UFC history, surpassing Conor McGregor. The bout marks Garry’s first title opportunity and Makhachev’s first defense at welterweight.
