Ian Machado Garry claims he could beat Islam Makhachev in rematch

Following his unanimous decision loss to Islam Makhachev at UFC 330, Ian Machado Garry expressed confidence that he could defeat the champion in an immediate rematch. Despite the defeat, Garry noted that the fight was competitive, landing 89 strikes compared to Makhachev's 78.

However, Makhachev's wrestling proved decisive, as he controlled the fight for 12 minutes and 30 seconds, effectively neutralizing Garry's offensive capabilities for half of the 25-minute bout. Garry attributed his loss to a lack of aggression and pressure, stating he should have utilized more kicks and head strikes to prevent Makhachev from executing his game plan.

While UFC executive Dana White criticized Garry for a lack of aggression and intent to damage the champion, Garry remains optimistic about his future, citing a decade of high-level competition ahead of him.
