Ian McEwan releases new dystopian novel ‘Lo que podemos saber’
Author Ian McEwan has released a new novel titled ‘Lo que podemos saber’ (What We Can Know), published by Anagrama. The work is a dystopian literary thriller set in the year 2119, depicting a world devastated by environmental collapse and a catastrophic nuclear accident that triggered massive tsunamis.
The narrative follows Thomas Metcalfe, a humanities academic living in a semi-aquatic world where much of the planet is flooded. Metcalfe is obsessed with uncovering the mystery of a lost poem titled ‘Una corona para Vivien,’ written in 2014. The novel explores the remnants of human civilization and uses the search for this historical literary piece to examine human passions and the complexities of the past.
