Iasa institute launches in Italy to advance agrifood research

The Institute of Advanced Science for Agriculture (Iasa) has been established in Jolanda di Savoia, Italy, as a specialized international center for doctoral research and higher education in agrifood systems. Promoted by BF spa and established by the Ministry of University and Research, the institution operates as a university school with a special regulatory status.

The campus is located within the BF agro-zootechnical-industrial hub and utilizes a ‘Living Lab’ model, featuring an experimental farm of over 5,000 hectares to combine academic teaching with field experimentation. Facilities include scientific laboratories, co-working spaces, an auditorium, and residential accommodations for over 150 students.

The first doctoral program in ‘Advanced Sciences for Agrifood Systems’ is scheduled to begin in November. There are 22 available positions, including twelve scholarships and ten industrial doctorates. The institution aims to train researchers and professionals to develop sustainable, secure, and resilient global food systems through scientific innovation and technological transfer.
