IATO Convention in Visakhapatnam focuses on boosting inbound tourism

The 41st Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) Annual Convention is currently being held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Under the theme ‘India – The World’s Next Tourism Opportunity’, the event focuses on increasing foreign tourist arrivals and converting existing footfall into longer visitor stays.

Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh highlighted that the state has attracted 20,000 crore in tourism investments over the last two years. Supported by the 2024–29 tourism policy, the state is promoting diverse sectors including wellness, eco, adventure, heli, and seaplane tourism. The government is also focusing on infrastructure in areas such as Araku, Lambasingi, and Maredumilli, while leveraging the 1,058-km coastline for yoga and Ayurveda-based wellness tourism.

Discussions at the convention include the use of artificial intelligence, sustainability, connectivity, and international marketing. Industry stakeholders are being encouraged to design specialized packages to showcase the state’s unique tourism circuits and cultural offerings to a global audience.
