Šiauliai celebrates 790th anniversary with jubilee events

The city of Šiauliai has commenced celebrations for its 790th anniversary. The festivities included a formal ceremony at the ‘Saulė’ concert hall to inaugurate the city’s Honorary Citizens, honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to the community.

As part of the jubilee, a large-scale artistic event titled ‘Light Geometry’ was held at the Sun Clock Square. The performance integrated live music, choreography, light installations, and historical imagery to depict the city’s history. Directed by Dalius Abaris, the production featured actress Saulė Gotbergė and utilized various artistic elements, including performances by the ‘Lietuva’ dance ensemble and musicians such as Saulius Petreikis and the electronic music group ‘Happyendless’, to connect the city’s past with its present.
