IAV GmbH cuts 2,000 jobs, secures 3,000 positions with new future collective agreement
IAV GmbH, its works council and the IG Metall union have concluded a comprehensive future collective agreement together with eight works agreements. The package addresses employment terms, site locations, working hours, remuneration and qualification programmes.
The company will reduce its workforce from more than 4,000 employees to 2,970 by the end of 2027, eliminating roughly 2,000 jobs. The agreement bars any operational dismissals until 31 December 2028, providing job security for the remaining staff. IAV will keep all German sites open, while some functions are to be moved from Berlin to Gifhorn.
The restructuring also embeds a stronger focus on artificial‑intelligence competence across all divisions and a customer‑oriented, performance‑driven culture. CEO Jörg Astalosch said the deal secures about 3,000 highly qualified positions and gives the company a strategic plan to navigate the automotive industry’s transformation. Volkswagen AG holds a 50 % stake in IAV.
