Ibach roundabout opens as Gotthardstrasse renovation enters final phase

A new roundabout at Postplatz in Ibach, Canton of Schwyz, has been operational since August 26, 2026. This milestone marks the beginning of the final major phase of the Gotthardstrasse renovation project.

As construction progresses, commuters should expect single-lane traffic controlled by signals from September 16 until approximately October 30, 2026. Significant disruptions include the closure of Muotastrasse and the partial closure of Asetstrasse starting October 1, 2026. Local bus services will also be shortened, operating only as far as the Ibach church instead of Studenmatt. Authorities advise that traffic jams and delays are likely during this period.
