Nigerian police arrest suspects in Oyo murder and Ogun assault cases

In Oyo State, the Police Command has arrested three suspects—Hammed Akinbami, Akinbami Ojo, and Padonu Edward—following the alleged murder and robbery of the Ifeanyi Chukwu family in Oloba Village. The suspects reportedly invaded the residence on September 22, 2026, armed with a Dane gun, cutlasses, and a club. During the attack, they allegedly stole ₦200,000, a motorcycle, and various machines. The suspects are accused of killing family members and throwing two children into a nearby river. While the wife’s remains have been recovered, efforts to locate the other four victims continue.

In Ogun State, five individuals—Morenikeji Badmus, Adedoja Segun, Jeremiah Odise Ugbede Onride, Mike Stephen, and David Odeh—have been arraigned at the Ota Magistrate Court. They face charges of conspiracy, serious assault on police officers, and obstruction of lawful duty following a violent ambush in Iyana-Iyesi on October 2. The incident occurred when a patrol team was transporting a suspect allegedly in possession of Indian hemp, at which point a group attacked the officers with stones, bottles, and cutlasses.

Separately, the Amotekun Corps in Ekiti State arrested three suspected kidnappers, Abubakar Musa, Yussuf Lawal, and Babangida Usman, in Igbara-Odo following an attempted abduction of a woman on a farm.
