Ibañez and Bachevski exit European Boxing Championships

Bulgarian boxers Javier Ibañez and Roselin Bachevski failed to reach the semifinals at the European Boxing Championships held at the Asics Arena in Sofia.

In the 55kg category, Javier Ibañez faced Great Britain's Abdul Burton. Despite dominating the second and third rounds and the opponent receiving a penalty from the referee, the judges awarded the victory to Burton via a split decision (29:27, 27:29, 29:27, 27:29, 28:28). The decision led to protests from the Bulgarian camp and boos from the crowd.

In the 90kg category, debutant Roselin Bachevski competed against Spain's Emanuel Reyes, an Olympic bronze medalist. Bachevski maintained a competitive match until the final round, but Reyes ultimately secured a 5:0 victory.
