Ibagué businessman awarded 1,000 million peso logistics contract
Juan Alberto Galindo Restrepo, a businessman primarily known for his work in the gastronomy sector in Ibagué, has been awarded a logistics services contract worth up to 1,000 million pesos by the city's Secretariat of Environment and Risk Management.
The contract covers the organization of campaigns and events, including the supply of sound equipment, tents, catering, and other logistical elements. The award has sparked public debate regarding the businessman's primary industry versus the nature of the contract.
Galindo defended the award, stating that logistics services are part of his company's corporate purpose and that the Grupo Galindo Restrepo has held similar public contracts in previous administrations. He also clarified that the 1,000 million peso figure represents the maximum possible amount for an exhaustible contract and does not necessarily imply the full amount has been disbursed. The controversy has also touched upon Galindo's political connections and his former role on the Board of Directors of the Ibagué Chamber of Commerce.
