Ibagué councilors accused of profiling journalist Luisa Bohórquez

Journalist and lawyer Luisa Fernanda Bohórquez publicly accused three members of the Ibagué municipal council—Silvia Ortiz, Deiby Buitrago and Giovanny Martínez of the Centro Democrático party—of political profiling. She alleges that the councilors used their official platform to expose her identity and investigative work, threatening her personal safety and that of her family in retaliation for her oversight of municipal administration.

Bohórquez demanded that the Fiscalía General de la Nación investigate the alleged profiling and called on the councilors to provide evidence of any threats they claim to have received. The councilors responded that Bohórquez’s publications damage their reputation and that they have faced threats themselves. Civil society groups in Ibagué and the wider Tolima department have voiced support for Bohórquez’s right to monitor public officials.

The dispute highlights tensions between traditional political actors and independent citizen journalists in Colombia, with both sides maintaining their positions and calling for legal scrutiny.
