Ibagué expands youth opportunities with free police recruitment and updated council incentives

The National Police of Colombia announced a free recruitment campaign for patrol officers targeting young residents of Ibagué and the wider Tolima department. The selection process, which includes required evaluations, will remain cost‑free and stays open until 31 August. Applicants can obtain information and submit pre‑registration online or in person at the Tolima Incorporation Group office, and a dedicated phone line (321 394 7476) is also available.

The Ibagué municipal government also revised Decree 0812 of 2022 to strengthen support for members of the Municipal Youth Council. The update raises transport subsidies for urban, rural and inter‑municipal travel, aligns allowances with current public‑transport fares, and establishes a clear procedure for requesting incentives. Secretary of Community Social Development Claudia Aristizábal said the changes aim to remove financial barriers and enhance youth participation in city‑wide decision‑making.
