Barrios Unidos Youth Week 2026 Engages Hundreds in Bogotá
The Barrios Unidos district of Bogotá concluded its Youth Week 2026, a week‑long program organized by the local mayor’s office. Hundreds of young people gathered in parks, cultural centers and plazas, turning the area into a hub of civic participation, art and constructive debate under the slogan “Juventud que transforma.”
Activities included a pedagogical tour of the Humedal Salitre, a local youth assembly to develop proposals for the Local Youth Agenda, a skate‑boarding session, and a closing cultural event in San Felipe where young artists performed. Participants also accessed institutional services on entrepreneurship, employment, training, mental health, civic participation and social inclusion.
The event was praised for strengthening youth involvement, encouraging public‑space appropriation, promoting environmental care and fostering an inclusive, participatory community. One student spokesperson said, “Esta semana no fue solo para celebrar, fue para demostrar que los jóvenes somos sujetos activos en la toma de decisiones.” Local authorities highlighted the high attendance and the cooperation between youth organizations and municipal institutions.
