Ibai Llanos' La Velada del Año VI draws €1 million profit amid helmet controversy

The sixth edition of La Velada del Año, organized by streamer Ibai Llanos, attracted millions of live viewers and featured up to ten fights with an international roster of creators. Sponsors such as Coca‑Cola, McDonald’s, Spotify and InfoJobs helped fund the event, whose total production cost has been estimated at around €10 million. Ibai confirmed that the 2024 edition generated roughly €1 million in earnings for him, noting that earlier editions either broke even or lost money.

A separate controversy emerged after the event when the RoRo technical team supplied Mexican fighter Samy Rivers with a helmet only days before the competition. The team allegedly threatened to withdraw unless the helmet was accepted and later imposed a “ghost clause” requiring a second weigh‑in, a condition the organizers had not seen. RoRo later agreed to modify the helmet and allow the fight to proceed, stating the equipment did not give a decisive advantage.
