Ibb Governor addresses Houthi missile launches and regional security
Major General Abdulwahab al-Waili, the Governor of Ibb, has addressed reports regarding the use of territory within the Ibb governorate as a launch site for ballistic missiles and drones targeting Aden and other liberated areas in Yemen.
Al-Waili stated that Ibb is a victim of Houthi militia control rather than a supporter of their projects. He emphasized that the local authority is working in coordination with the political leadership and the Arab Coalition, led by Saudi Arabia, to monitor and document violations and launch sites. He further noted that the Houthi militias are acting as tools for expansionist regional projects that threaten Arab national security.
In a separate discussion regarding the political landscape in northern Yemen, reports highlighted the growing disconnect between political slogans of national unity and the lived reality of citizens facing continuous bombardment, poverty, and displacement. Critics argue that clinging to outdated political frameworks without addressing the needs of the people and the reality on the ground only exacerbates human suffering and instability.
