IBC2026 Innovation Awards Announces Global Finalists Across Media and Tech

The International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) has announced the finalists for its 2026 Innovation Awards, covering four categories: Content Creation, Content Distribution, Content Everywhere, and Social Impact. More than 120 deployed projects were submitted, reflecting industry trends toward AI, cloud‑native workflows, open standards and personalized audience experiences.

Notable finalists include: - "How Collective Newsroom powers BBC India," a multilingual production system built with the BBC and nxtedition. - Media eXchange Layer (MXL), an open‑source initiative from the European Broadcasting Union and the North American Broadcasters Association, hosted by the Linux Foundation. - Formula E Strategy Agent, an AI architecture developed with Google Cloud to process live racing data. - Reuters' Global Shared Memory ecosystem for live news distribution. - Technical Content Delivery (TCODE) for Radio Televisyen Malaysia, and RTBF Belgium’s server‑guided ad‑insertion platform launched for the FIFA World Cup. - Brazil’s DTV+ platform by Globo, merging free‑to‑air reach with personalised, measurable delivery.

Fergal Ringrose, chair of the IBC2026 Innovation Awards jury, said the volume and quality of entries shows “the ever‑growing appreciation of our unique awards across the media and entertainment community.” The winners will be announced on 13 September 2026 at the IBC conference in Amsterdam.
