Šibenik Dance Festival marks 15th edition with international performances

The 15th edition of the Šibenik Dance Festival ran from 13 – 18 July 2026, opening on the main square of Šibenik in front of the Cathedral of St. James. The week‑long program featured domestic and foreign artists across multiple city venues, including the Barone and St. Mihovil fortresses, and for the first time extended to the nearby town of Vodice.

Highlights included Turkish dancer‑choreographer Ziye Azazi’s “Dervish in Progress,” Portuguese choreographer Caroline Batalha’s solo “Sketch: The Girl Who Wore Skirts on Windy Days,” and a performance by Germany’s Ballet Staatstheater Cottbus titled “Mit Herz und Verstand.” The festival’s Forum on cultural diplomacy gathered artists and producers from Europe and the United States to discuss new collaborations. Organisers praised the growth from a modest 2011 project to an internationally recognised cultural platform.
